The Audubon society has been lecturing to women on the wickedness of destroying birds for hat ornamentation, the audiences having been sprinkled quite largely with just the kind of hats under condemnation. The lecturers say, some of them, that there will be some badly shaken up hats if this defiance is kept up.
Of every 14 families in the United States, one family is partially or wholly supported by the government. Uncle Sam is a pretty good provider, after all.
